Anguistralobe – steampunk gears design trinket dish
Commemorative dish celebrating astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument used to solve problems related to time and the position of the stars. It was primarily used by astronomers, navigators, and astrologers. The device could measure the altitude of celestial bodies and was essential for determining the time of day or night, the latitude of the observer, or for navigational purposes at sea.
The astrolabe consists of a disk, often made of brass, with a map of the sky engraved on it. A rotating pointer, called the "alidade," is used to sight stars or the sun, allowing the user to perform calculations based on the positions of celestial objects. They were widely used in the Islamic world and medieval Europe.
By the 18th century, the astrolabe was largely considered outdated for practical use due to advancements in more precise instruments which were developed for navigation. During this time, astrolabes continued to be intricately crafted, often as decorative or ceremonial objects, highlighting the blend of science and artistry that characterized their design. They also remained a subject of study for antiquarians and collectors fascinated by the development of scientific instruments.

- Shopping from an EU country? You can return return-eligible items to us within 14 days of receiving your order for a refund or store credit.

SIZE EXCHANGE
- Size exchange is only possible within the EU countries.

CUSTOMS FEES
- There are no customs duties for deliveries within the European Union countries. We ship all orders from Lithuania (EU country).
- Customers outside the EU shop tax-free but might have to pay customs duties, brokerage fees and import taxes.
- USA customers may enjoy duty and import-free orders when the total order (including shipping) is below 700€
- The customer is responsible for all import fees if the delivery address is not in the European Union country.
