Misanthrope Cardigan
Awesome cardigan. Love the distressed details. Pretty warm too. Has a lot of stretch, so it's possible to size down in this one. Keep in mind though that the little threads get caught on everything (zippers, buckles etc). If you're easily annoyed by something like that, it might not be ideal for you. Personally, I don't care. It looks absolutely amazing on and so witchy. I'm in love!!!
One my favorit garments !
I bought the Misanthrope cardigan many years ago ,as a matter of fact it was one of the first clothing items I bought from Fantasmagoria ,I think it must be more than 10 years ago. From the moment I saw the Misanthrope on your site all those years ago,I knew I just had to buy it. So I did and waited for the package to be sent to the town I live in ,in northern norway. I just fell in love when I packed it up and removed all the layers of paper and the Punk Rave bag . It really fulfilled all my expectations . I got a lot of positive compliments from friends ,some of them wanted to know were I had bought it . And some had negative things to say - like " a lady of your age should not be dressed in clothes like that ! But I've always been a gothgirl !
The sweater/cardigan has a shape which sits well on my body - I have an hourglass shaped torso - slighly slender waist and broad hips ,so it was a perfect fit ! I love the hoody ,it adds a whitchy touch to the garment .The disstressed fabric makes the garment look almost like it's been heavily worn ,and ads a streak of mystery. The sleeves are generous but still not too wide.
But some of the treads of the distressed threads often tend to fasten onto things like handbags ,other peoples backpacks and onto funiture ,zippers,doorhandels etc ,so I sewed some of the loosest treads back onto the underlaying fabric to stop it from fasten on to the surroundings. The zipper dragger is really cool. After 5-6 years of wearing the Misanthrope ,the zipper had to be changed ,but that's to be expected for most clothing after several years of almost everyday use.
When it comes to the corsettelacing at the back , I haven't used the lacing very much. If the lacing fabric had been a bit more sturdy and thicker ,I would probably try to chinche the waist ,but for that ,I think the area around the lacing would had to be changed into being a bit more sturdy to make that happen. I like loose and laid back style ,so it's not something that bothers me ,it's just my mind wandering off by itself. :) I 'm now looking for another Misanthrope cardigan because mine is almost worn out as I've been wearing it a lot for more than 10 years. I see that you haven't got my size ,which is 3XL ,in stock ,but I'm waiting patiencly untill it's back in stock again.
I'm normaly a size EU 42 - 44 ,UK 14-16 , and since the size of many Punk Rave's clothing run small ,I bought a 3XL ,just to be sure . It was a perfect match.
I would absolutly recommend this garment !
Dark Distress In Woolen Tones
The cardigan looks just as good as it does in the photos! It’s a quality make and looks mighty impressive. The lacing at the back allows the piece to be somewhat cinched, if necessary. Both the knitwork and the distressed fabric are made with quality. However, as is with all distressed fabrics, they’re not especially durable (as another reviewer has mentioned they do have a tendency of getting caught onto stuff). Yet, any damage to such fabric is not easily noticeable, so that’s quite alright. Note, this piece may not be as suitable for cold environments as it might seem, since the knitwork is only at the front and back, but the sleeves are quite thin. You might need to consider how this impacts your purchase.
I must also mention the great care the shop took in packaging the order. The items were packaged in several layers prior to being boxed. Most notably, the clothing was wrapped in protective paper and/or had it placed inside. Additionally, the decorative details on and within the package were splendid. The effort is noted and appreciated!

IRONING INSTRUCTIONS
Please note, the item is shipped tightly packed, so the garment will have crumples when unpacked.
Please iron the creases and wrinkles if you wish the garment to look like on our website's photo.
Sometimes, to even out the fabric, it helps to hang the garment on the wide padded hanger, spray generously with the water, and leave it hanging for a couple of days. Tip: Leave it hung in the shower room.
But, for a non-stretchy garment, it is always best to use a standard iron or steam iron. Tip: You may also bring the clothing to the tailors, dry-cleaning, or another place that provide professional ironing services.
CARE & CLEANING ADVICE
- Follow the textile care instructions on the label
- Don't wash your clothes too often
- Remove stains manually
- Air the clothes to freshen up after each use
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
- Turn clothes inside out.
- Close buttons and zips.
- Use a laundry bag.
- Wash with same colors (as color may transfer to other garments)
- Use a mild detergent made for this color of the fabric. Do not use a universal detergent that contains oxygen for bleaching purposes.
- The use of special detergents produced for the garment's fabric and the color is recommended.
- Always follow the dosing instructions for detergent. We recommend using less detergent (unless the garment is dirty and stained).
- You can avoid ceases by using a fabric conditioner or detergent with a softener.
- Use cold wash at max 30°C & gentle washing cycle.
- Use short programs for lightly soiled laundry.
- Preferably do not tumble dry.
- Remove excess water and dry flat.
- When almost dry, hang on the wide-padded hangers.
Not sure how to clean? Bring the garment to a professional clothing cleaning service such as Dry Cleaners or Wet Cleaners.
